The Pi Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®️ in collaboration with the Pearls of Wisdom Foundation, celebrated the students’ achievements and presented a Rites of Passage ceremony for the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI ) middle school graduates.
The students were provided with encouraging words of wisdom and pointers on excelling in the next phase of their life journeys. Both youth programs are chaired by Darlene Winkler, The YLI middle school program, focuses on empowering students to lead and learn life skills that will allow them to make an impact in their community and the world. In addition, both programs, YLI and AKA GEMS & GENTS provide engaging workshops, interactive sessions and one-on-one discussions with experts in financial literacy, health and wellness, public speaking, confidence, mental health/self care and college preparation and more, with the goal of preparing students with essential knowledge and skills as they grow.
