Providing scholarships to improve
Education plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic prospects and overall quality of life for Black and minority youth. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, individuals with a bachelor’s degree earn on average 66% more than those with just a high school diploma. Over a lifetime, this translates to about $1 million more in median earnings. Research from the Brookings Institution suggests that higher education attainment among parents directly correlates with higher educational outcomes for their children, thus helping break cycles of poverty in minority communities.
Our Impact
Pearls of Wisdom has provided scholarships to eligible Black high school seniors accepted into and enrolling in accredited 4-year colleges or universities since 1990. We provide seven scholarships annually and host an awards ceremony to celebrate the recipients and their families.
